// Why Bijak

How the programmes are structured.

A few things that shape the approach here — worth reading if you're deciding whether this fits your situation.

Designed around working hours

Sessions and deadlines account for the reality of full-time work. You won't need to clear your calendar to participate.

Individual project feedback

Weekly submissions are reviewed individually — not with a rubric, but with specific observations on your approach and code.

Modest hardware requirements

Courses use datasets and model sizes that run on a standard laptop. Cloud compute is optional, not required.

Small cohort sizes

Each intake is kept small so that group sessions remain genuinely useful — not just lectures with a larger audience.

Curriculum without inflation

Topics are chosen for their practical relevance. If something isn't useful to working developers, it's not in the syllabus.

Based in Penang

Bijak operates from Bayan Lepas, Penang. In-person sessions are available for cohorts when schedules allow.

// Questions

Common questions before enrolling.

What level of Python knowledge do I need?
The NLP programme assumes you're comfortable writing Python functions, working with lists and dictionaries, and have used at least one data library (NumPy or Pandas). Computer Vision has similar expectations. The AI Ethics short course has no Python requirement.
Are sessions live or recorded?
Group sessions are live, and recordings are made available afterwards for participants who couldn't attend. Written materials and project assignments are accessible asynchronously throughout the week.
How much time per week should I expect to spend?
Most participants find the NLP and Computer Vision programmes require around six to eight hours per week — including reading, project work, and group sessions. The AI Ethics short course is lighter, closer to three to four hours per week.
Is there a completion certificate?
Participants who complete all project submissions receive a letter of completion from Bijak. It documents the programme title, duration, and topics covered — useful for professional records, though not a formal academic credential.
What is the payment arrangement?
Full payment is due before the programme begins. We accept bank transfer and online payment. If you're considering multiple courses or enrolling as a team, send us an enquiry and we can discuss the arrangement.
When does the next cohort start?
Cohort dates vary by programme. Send us your details and which course you're interested in — we'll let you know when the next intake is and whether there are still places available.
